Cactus Blue Woodshop Projects

This was one of my favorite projects, even though it was very simple. One afternoon my son asked if we could make a birdhouse. I jumped up and we went into the shop and pulled some scrap pieces of wood from the bin and started planning. Within a couple of hours we had our birdhouse. The painting was easier with this project, since birds are pretty forgiving as long as it has room for a nest.

Since we built this birdhouse there have been several seasons of birds nesting in it. We noticed last summer that one of the roof panels was starting to push up since so many birds had stuffed it full of nesting materials and it was over stuffed. I finally had to take it down and repair it during the winter. It continues to hang by our front door and birds move in every spring.
